Marilyn M. Polson has over 27 years of experience in Wills, Trusts and Estates, her primary area of practice. This experience includes planning for federally taxable estates, will and trust preparation, probate and trust administration, planning for children and future generations (both minors and beyond), charitable planning, special needs planning, and business succession planning.
Marilyn is A-V rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been listed as a “Super Lawyer” by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine. Marilyn is a member of The Florida Bar, serves on the Probate Law Committee, Estate and Trust Tax Planning Committee, Asset Protection Committee and IRA, Insurance and Employee Benefits Committee of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and is the past Chair of its Wills, Trusts and Estates Certification Review Seminar Committee. Marilyn served as Co-chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section’s 2009 Convention held in St. Petersburg, Florida and Co-chair of the Section’s 2010 Convention held in Tampa, Florida. She is also a member of the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar.
Marilyn received her Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from Stetson University, College of Law. She has served as an adjunct professor of the course “Survey of Florida Probate Law” and as a guest speaker in the course “Real Property Law” at Stetson. Marilyn has also participated as a speaker in seminars on various estate planning and probate topics for the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, providing continuing legal education to other lawyers.
Marilyn’s professional and community activities include membership in the St. Petersburg Bar Association, President (past) and member of Suncoast Estate Planning Council, extensive service on the Board of Director’s for CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse, Inc.) as well as sitting as a Trustee on its Development Board. Marilyn was selected as a 2008 finalist for St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year. She also served as a 1996 United Way Community Hero Olympic Torchbearer. Marilyn is a volunteer attorney with the Community Law Program’s Elder Law Clinic at the Sunshine Senior Center in St. Petersburg and accepts many pro bono cases from that clinic in addition to advice provided onsite.
Marilyn lives in St. Petersburg with her husband, Herb, and close to her children and grandchildren, all of whom call the St. Petersburg community home.
